Minimal types in simple theories

چکیده

We prove that if M0 is a model of a simple theory, and p(x) is a complete type of Cantor-Bendixon rank 1 over M0, then p is stationary and regular. As a consequence we obtain another proof that any countable model M0 of a countable complete simple theory T has infinitely many countable elementary extensions up to M0-isomorphism. The latter extends earlier results of the author in the stable case, and is a special case of a recent result of Tanovic [4].

A model theoretic Baire category theorem for simple theories and its applications

We prove a model theoretic Baire category theorem for τ̃ f low-sets in a countable simple theory in which the extension property is firstorder and show some of its applications. We also prove a trichotomy for minimal types in countable nfcp theories: either every type that is internal in a minimal type is essentially-1-based by means of the forking topology or T interprets a strongly-minimal for...

On uniform definability of types over finite sets

In this paper, using definability of types over indiscernible sequences as a template, we study a property of formulas and theories called “uniform definability of types over finite sets” (UDTFS). We explore UDTFS and show how it relates to well-known properties in model theory. We recall that stable theories and weakly o-minimal theories have UDTFS and UDTFS implies dependence. We then show th...

Forking in VC-minimal theories

We consider VC-minimal theories admitting unpackable generating families, and show that in such theories, forking of formulae over a model M is equivalent to containment in global types definable over M , generalizing a result of Dolich on o-minimal theories in [4].

On Equational Theories, Unification, and (Un)Decidability

We investigate the following classes of equational theories which are important in unification theory: permutative, finite, Noetherian, simple, almost collapse free, collapse free, regular, and O-free theories. We show some relationships between the particular classes and their connections to the unification hierarchy. Especially, we study conditions, under which minimal and complete sets of un...

Vapnik-chervonenkis Density in Some Theories without the Independence Property, I

We recast the problem of calculating Vapnik-Chervonenkis (VC) density into one of counting types, and thereby calculate bounds (often optimal) on the VC density for some weakly o-minimal, weakly quasi-o-minimal, and P -minimal theories.
